Plan International Uganda – State of the World's Girls Report 2025 Launch

June 2, 2026    Research

As part of the celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child, Plan International Uganda spearheaded a comprehensive advocacy campaign aligned with the theme, “The Girl I Am, the Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis,” focusing heavily on the urgent need to #EndChildMarriage. The initiative featured strategic internal staff engagements and the high-profile launch of the State of the World's Girls Report 2025—"Let Me Be a Child, Not a Wife"—uniting government agencies, civil society organizations, and development partners to explore multi-sectoral solutions to protect girls' rights. Highlighting the campaign were symbolic leadership "Takeovers" at the British High Commission, Absa Bank Uganda, and UNHCR, which empowered young female advocates to step into senior executive roles and directly challenge decision-makers on protection systems and gender equality. Through these powerful localized actions, alongside regional community dialogues, school debates, and a media campaign reaching over two million people, the initiative successfully amplified girls' voices and accelerated the collective national commitment to building a safer, more equitable Uganda.
